About the Journal

Focus and Scope

The main objective of Migraciones Internacionalesis to publish scientific texts aimed at a specialist readership and which rigorously address international migration processes from a theoretical or methodological perspective, or in light of empirical data that contributes to understanding international migratory phenomena in its various forms.

Given the complexity of international migration, it is acknowledged that the journal is of a multidisciplinary nature, and research from an interdisciplinary perspective will be well received. Subjects of relevance are those relating to the movement of people to a country other than their country of birth in search of better living conditions or to protect their physical integrity, a significant yet often troublesome process in the context of a global economy.

The journal is aimed at researchers, teachers, graduate students, scholars, members of the public and private sectors, and NGOs interested in studies that explore international migration or migratory processes.

Peer Review Process

Texts received for publication will be reviewed to ensure they meet the presentation guidelines. Once this requirement is met, the content will be examined and, if necessary, the text will be sent for a pre-review by a member of the Editorial Committee who will decide on its suitability for the journal.

Manuscripts accepted in the initial review will be anonymized (any references identifying the authors will be removed) and sent to two specialized academic referees not affiliated with the author’s own institution, who will issue their decision within four weeks. A paper requires two positive decisions to be published. In the event of a disagreement between the two decisions, the paper will be sent to a third referee.

The following decisions are possible:

  1. Publishable as is.
  2. Publishable with minor changes.
  3. Publishable with major changes.
  4. Publication not recommended.

If major changes are required, the revised version of the paper will be reviewed by one of the referees who will make a definitive decision on publication. The final decision cannot be appealed.

As a policy aimed at preventing plagiarism, Migraciones Internacionales reserves the right to use specialized anti-plagiarism software to review all manuscripts submitted for publication, applying the usual criteria to detect such practices.
