Submission Preparation Checklist
All submissions must meet the following requirements.
The paper has not been previously published, or submitted to another journal, and the Statement of Originality (available at https://migracionesinternacionales.colef.mx/index.php/migracionesinternacionales/about/editorialPolicies#custom-5) has been sent to miginter@colef.mx
The paper meets all current guidelines for this journal: https://migracionesinternacionales.colef.mx/index.php/migracionesinternacionales
It must include an abstract in English and Spanish that meets the specifications.
The title must not exceed 15 words in English or Spanish, and it must include the full name and highest academic degree of the author(s).
The paper is submitted in Microsoft Word and follows the specifed format; the text should not exceed 10,000 words and should be in double-spaced 12-point Times New Roman font, with 1.0-inch margins, including the abstract, keywords, tables, graphs and maps, footnotes, and references.
All citations, references to works and statistical sources in the text must follow APA, 7th edition style.
- When submitting the manuscript, the authors must state if they used AI assisted technologies (large language model, chatbots or image generators) to produce text that is postulated to dissemination/disseminate. If that so, both cover letter and the paper must include a description of the technologies used and what was produced with them.
- Authors of the manuscripts are responsible of precision, integrity, and originality of the work. Chatbots, Chat GPT or other AI assisted technologies cannot be included as authors.
- Authors must be able to assert that there is no plagiarism of text or images in the produced materials by Chat GPT or any other model of AI. Authors must ensure that all the cited material is correctly attributed, including full citations.
- The primary source material generated by Chat GPT or any other AI model is not acceptable.
- The Editorial board and reviewers, will evaluate the relevance of the IA use in the postulated manuscripts of the Journal.
Papers
A paper is a text that discusses an original and innovative academic topic in a manner that is systematic, coherent, and methodologically appropriate. The work may report results from empirical studies or develop theoretical or methodological discussions relevant for an academic exploration of the topic addressed.
- Papers must be unpublished. Sending or submitting work to this journal precludes its author(s) from simultaneously submitting the same work for consideration by any other publication.
- They may be written in Spanish or English, but will be published in both languages.
- Receipt of a paper does not mean it will be accepted for publication.
- Papers will be evaluated first of all by the journal’s Editorial Committee to ensure they meet these guidelines. If so, they will be submitted to at least two anonymous referees for a critical review. A favorable opinion is required from both referees for publication.
Critical Notes
Critical notes seek to open up a forum for debate on the subject under consideration. They discuss subjects relating to international migration and its various ramifications.
- Critical notes are reflections or research drafts. They should be no more than 3,200 words long and follow the format given in the Author Guidelines section.
- They are reviewed anonymously by a member of the journal’s Editorial Committee to ensure they meet these guidelines. If so, they are sent to at least one anonymous reviewer from a different institution to that of the author for a critical evaluation. A favorable opinion is required from the reviewer for publication.

To that end, authors must submit the form assigning ownership of first publication rights, duly completed and signed. This document is to be uploaded in PDF format as a complementary file on the OJS platform.
